Next Board Meeting:  September 2, 2010  -  10:00 AM CST  (GMD 4 Offices - Colby, KS)

Water Transition and Assistance Program (WTAP):  The upcoming WTAP program is expected to be announced shortly.  The sign-up period will be October 1 through November 15, 2010.  WTAP is a Kansas water right retirement program whereby interested individuals bid in a price per acre-foot of water historically pumped to permanently retire the irrigation water right.  It is only available in the 6 established High Priority Areas within GMD 4; the Prairie Dog Creek of NW Kansas and the Rattlesnake Creek area of South Central Kansas.  It is also capped at $2,000 per acre-foot.  If interested, contact the office or the State Conservation Commission.

DWR Sets Up New Informational Packet:  Ken Kopp of DWR has put together a new info packet to address and answer many common water rights questions/issues - with examples of forms needing to be completed - especially dealing with meters, check valves, and the like.  The more the public uses this site, the better DWR staff will be able to handle their responses to the general public. The site is: http://www.ksda.gov/dwr. Type in: approval pack in the search box at top of page to get directly there.

DWR Offers New, Electronic Newsletter:  Click here for the most current weekly edition. Normally some very current information of interest.
