Current GMD 4 Management Program

The GMD Board is currently undertaking a review of the current plan for possible revision by November, 2008.  If there are concerns over any aspect of the current plan, contact any board member of GMD staff.

As of December 13, 2007, the board has approved 7 new issues for inclusion into the revised plan for public consideration.  These are: 1) Installing the GMD 4 Management Program as the expression of "public interest" for NW Kansas GMD 4 members;  2) The viability of obtaining variable assessment rates for both land assessments and water user charges;  3) A possible economic development component for processing future water rights;  4) A public water rights ownership program to promote reduced water use and simultaneously increased economic returns;  5) A possible water rights allocation regulation for irrigation in high priority areas;  6) The limitation of impairment complaints in active management areas;  and 7) additional restrictions on adding acres to existing water rights.

These issues will be explored by the board over the next 10 months.  If you have comments or questions on any of these issues, or if there are others that need consideration, let the GMD know.
